Chad Rehnberg lives on the west side of Louisville in a distressed community called the Shawnee neighborhood. He and his family moved into the community to serve and build relationships with the people living there. Chad works with a ministry called City Life which is affiliated with Youth for Christ.
On Friday, May 27th we were able to see the devastation from the F5 Tornado that tore through Joplin, MO. It was sobering to see the damage up close and personal. Television can't capture what we saw with our own eyes. We served as a family on Saturday the 28th together with people from Heritage Heights Christian Church. We helped a woman clean up who had survived the storm by going into a small closet in her house. Her roof had been ripped off along with the entire side of her house. She was grateful to be alive and she has plans to rebuild. The community spirit was incredible. Heritage Heights Christian Church is doing an inc
redible job helping to mobilize people to serve their community. They have already sent out roughly 4,000 volunteers in the past week to help those affected by the storm. Ben put together this short video in an attempt to capture what we saw when we were in Joplin.
While we were in Rancho Cucamonga, CA we stayed with a generous couple named Claudio and Gina Medina. Gina shared with Beth how she does tea parties with the elderly and shut-ins. She is using her gift to serve others and developing relationships at the same time.
Beth’s good friend Crista Walton decided to fly out to Colorado so Beth and her could get some time together. Crista’s daughter Britney and Bekah are best friends. We decided not to tell Bekah that Britney was coming and here is what played out when they saw each other. Truly epic! BTW, I know that word is overused but it is so fun to say!
On Sunday, December 12th we joined forces with Skip 1 in Ventura, CA to help them pack homeless gLOVE packages to benefit invisiblepeople.tv. Together with roughly 100 people we packed over 300 care bags to give to the homeless.
We had an amazing day on Saturday, October 23rd working with Set Free Church on Skid Row. Almost 100 people from The Vine Church came down to paint the common areas of Set Free’s new building. Check out the video to see a re-cap of the day.
